Aftercare
Congratulations on your new tattoo! Now what?
Getting tattooed is a powerful experience—an act of expression, transformation, and intention. What happens next is just as important: the healing. How you care for your tattoo over the next few weeks will determine how beautifully it settles into your skin.
Here’s everything you need to know:
Washing:
If Your Tattoo Is Wrapped with Saniderm (clear bandage):
Leave the bandage on for 3-5 days, unless otherwise instructed. Remove it slowly in the shower under warm water to minimize discomfort. Gently wash the tattoo using warm water and mild, unscented soap. We recommend Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Castile Soap. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel. Avoid rubbing.
If Your Tattoo Is Wrapped with Plastic Wrap:
Remove the wrap after 3 hours. Gently wash the tattoo using warm water and mild, unscented soap. We recommend Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Castile Soap. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel. Avoid rubbing.
Healing + Moisturizing:
Apply a thin layer of aftercare balm twice a day for 2 weeks.
We highly recommend using our Q’inti Tallow Tattoo Aftercare Cream, handcrafted with nourishing, herbal-infused ingredients that support the skin’s natural healing process.
You may also use Vitamin E oil, coconut oil, or Hustle Butter if needed.
Do not re-bandage your tattoo. Let it breathe and stay clean.
Things to Avoid:
No pools, oceans, hot tubs, saunas, or direct sunlight for 2 weeks.
Don’t pick, scratch, or peel scabs—let your skin heal on its own time.
Keep dirty hands off your tattoo and don’t let others touch it.
Avoid tight clothes or gear that could rub or irritate the area.
